Do you want a wine cellar to be part of your bar area? If so, weigh whether you want your wine cellar tucked away or as a design feature for all to see. A wine wall behind glass is a beautiful way to make your wine collection stand out.
Don't downplay lighting. Using drop down pendants or a chandelier can be an amazing way to infuse color and style into the space. Don't be afraid to use lighting as your color pop.
Will this entertainment space be family-friendly? There's no reason it can't be if kids are a big part of your home. Consider ways to make soda, popcorn, and snacks exciting and accessible, and make sure to choose a space with video-game-central nearby.
Infuse some urban elements. Adding a brick wall or some stone features will create just a little bit more ambiance that will set the bar area apart from your more relaxed living spaces nearby.
Keep comfort in mind. Think about home-living style elements that can make your bar area welcoming. Having a stylish, comfortable arm chair nearby for instance, is part of what makes partying at home unique from going out. And quick access to the TV or other entertaining hot-spots in your home (like a walkout to the backyard) are all part of creating an easy-going entertainment space that's still high on style.
