Minneapolis and St. Paul Holiday Events Around Town

Now that we have Thanksgiving squared away, many of us are ready to focus our attention on the festivities that December and January will bring! Luckily, our community is already in the celebrating mood! Get in the holiday spirit with one of these local area events:Wells Fargo Winter Skate: Open from 11:00AM daily, the Wells Fargo Winter Skate will be taking place at the Landmark Plaza in Downtown St. Paul. Burn off some extra holiday calories with a zip around the rink. Forgot your skates? They can be rented for just $2.00. After skating, head across the street to Rice Park for a walk through a winter wonderland – the beautifully lit park itself!Holidazzle Parade: Head to Nicollet Park in Downtown Minneapolis for this annual Christmas tradition. Enjoy a parade of illuminated floats, capped off with one carrying Santa Claus himself! Taking place at 6:30PM every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from November 23 until December 23, this free event is a proven family favorite.Macy’s Santaland Display: Before watching the Holidazzle parade, check out the Santaland display at Macy’s flagship store on Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. At this free event you can walk through a story told through more than a dozen beautifully animated scenes. Finish your visit by sitting on Santa’s lap and visiting Mrs. Claus’s bakeshop.Mall of America Ice Castles: Looking for a truly unique holiday experience? Visit Mall of America to see a custom made ice castle designed by Ice Castles, LLC – a creation that will stand more than 40 feet tall at its peak and span more than one acre. Enjoy a children’s snow park, complete with a 40 foot snow pile. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase. Mall of America will also be hosting Santa throughout the holiday season – don’t forget to stop by and tell him what is on your Christmas wish list!

Twin Cities Halloween Events

The pumpkins have been carved, the costumes have been picked out, but do you know what your family’s plan is for this holiday weekend?  If not, check out our list of area Halloween activities:Zoo Boo: You’re not too late to participate in the family favorite, Zoo Boo, held at the Minnesota Zoo and Conservatory.  The animals may be tucked away, but the zoo is turned into a magical adventure with over 200 costumed characters and several trick-or-treat stations!  Designed for ages 10 and under, Zoo Boo runs this weekend (Friday, October 26 – Sunday, October 27), 4:30 – 7:30PM nightly.  Cost is $6.00 in advance, $7.00 at the door.Boo-ology:   Looking for an educational, yet scary good time?  This Saturday, October 27 from 1:00 – 4:00PM the Science Museum of Minnesota will be hosting Boo-ology.  Children 12 and under, wearing a costume, will get free admission and will be invited to participate in a variety of spooky Halloween experiments!  Adults and children 13 and older can participate for the cost of regular admission.World’s Largest Indoor Trick-or-Treat:  Need something to do Halloween night?  Head to Mall of America to participate in the world’s largest indoor trick-or-treat event.  Beginning at 5:30PM with a costume contest, participants will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat throughout the mall.Pumpkin Festival: The business neighborhood of 50th and France will be hosting its annual Pumpkin Festival this Saturday, October 27 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM.  Take part in trick-or-treating, face painting, games, a costume contest and more.Gluten Free Halloween: Do you have a gluten free child?  The Celiac Center of MN invites children ages 3 – 12 to their Gluten Free Halloween party Monday, October 29.  Beginning at 6:30PM, the festivities will include crafts, games, and gluten free trick-or-treating.
