Edina Education Fund – Annual “Show & Tell” Luncheon

February 13, 2012

The Edina Education Fund is yet another avenue in which this community sets itself apart and demonstrates its commitment to supporting Edina Public Schools through community involvement.  For the second consecutive year, REFINED was fortunate to be able to attend the Annual “Show and Tell” Luncheon, hosted by the Edina Education Fund on February 6th, 2012.  We were pleased to be able to make a charitable donation to support this great organization help launch three new initiatives and fund an impressive variety of teacher-authored grants.   Attended by over 400 supporters, the event raised over $95,000 in one hour!   Its days like these that we are reminded why we are so proud to be part of the Edina Community.

Check out the Edina Ed Fund video shown at the luncheon to learn more about this great organization!

January 27, 2012

That’s right …. You could turn the fireplace on while still dining out, you could unlock the front door for a delivery while on vacation miles away, you could check to make sure the kids arrive home safely from school and turn on their favorite television program while sitting in a work meeting … the possibilities are endless!  Imagine living in a home with complete touch pad control from a variety of electronics and mobile devices.  We are excited to announce that our upcoming Dream Home will feature this with the “g! With g! you’re always in touch, and in control.”

Celebrities, including Famous Baker Buddy Valastro of Cake Boss , are crazy about this new technology, restaurant chains like Buffalo Wild Wings are installing and loving the state of the art g! system, and even America’s greenest new home located in Sarasota, FL features the product! Making The Old Feel New at a Recently Completed Edina Home

December 30, 2011

In the spirit of the New Year we thought we’d share some photos of a home that we recently completed in which we were able to make the old feel new again. This was a fun and unique project because we were able to reclaim and reuse the exterior stone from the original home; and incorporate it into a stunning, screened porch patio with a two-sided, wood burning fireplace.  It was exciting to be able to use both timber and stone from the original home in the new home.  In the photos below, you can see the exterior of the original home followed by photos of the finished, reclaimed stone on the new home.   Reclaimed is the new “new”!   At REFINED we make it a priority to find ways, with each property, to seamlessly blend the new home into the neighborhood while maintaining the integrity and history of the original home.  These are the little details that might not be obvious to everybody, but are very important to us.

This stylish home was fun to build and see the small details come to life.  Overall it turned out great, and even though we don’t have fully furnished photos yet, we had to share some candid shots.  Happy New Year!

Home Product Feature – Phantom Screens

October 25, 2011

We are finalizing the unique details of our Spring Parade of Homes model on Arden Avenue in East Edina and are excited to share one of our favorite new products with you.  Have you ever heard of a Phantom Screen?

Phantom Screens are retractable screens for doors, windows and large openings. They are made in virtually any size and come in a variety of colors. The founders of Phantom Screens wanted to give homeowners a more aesthetically pleasing option for ventilation, shade from the sun, and keeping insects out.   In Minnesota it is important to be able to take advantage of the limited, beautiful outdoor weather months – with a Phantom Screen you can do just that.  You are able to leave your outdoor entertaining area wide-open during the day and then seamlessly transition it into a screened gathering area in the evening without having to sacrifice your views!

We are using a single, large (11 feet wide by 8 feet tall) Phantom Screen for the backyard porch with a fireplace. This will be a great area to hang out, grill and relax. When the screen is lifted you will be able to walk directly out onto the home’s large beautifully landscaped flat backyard.

We purchase our Phantom Screens from a local Minnesota company called Minnesota Screens Inc. They have been great to work with; helping us decide what would be the best screen option for our model home.  If you would like to learn more about Phantom Screens, please visit our Spring 2012 model home or visit Phantom Screen’s website.
